You make that sound like it's a bad thing. I think if everyone had sex only to reproduce, that would be a sad sad joyless society. Sexual pleasure is one of the biggest thing that separates us from most animals. http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/pleasure.asp

I was curious about the methods used to generate this list. Turns out it was actually a well-designed study and not something from Cosmo et al. The article this research was published in is really interesting; there's a pdf of it linked to on the webpage this story came from. The data comes from college students, so weigh it appropriately. The first survey had students write down all the reasons they could think of for having sex. Then they took the responses and gave them to a larger group and had them pick their top 10. That's the data reported above in list format.
