I've had this problem for a while. for some strange reason, whenever i pop a burned cd into my deck, it sounds like there is radio static in the background, particularly during parts with high treble. It's not my speakers, because the radio itself sounds fine. With non-burned CDs, it plays them pretty much okay, but there's still that hint of crackling in the background. I've tried using one of those cd-player cleaners, but that didn't help. maybe it's just getting old? (it's 9 years old)

this used to happen every once in a while, but it usually would go away after a few days. this time, it's stayed this way for almost a month now.

anyone know of any other cleaning methods?

yeah, I bought one and tried it, but it didn't help much, if at all.

as a matter of fact, i might just have to retire the car altogether, so that may solve the problem.
