Baggy pants that show boxer shorts or thongs would be illegal under a proposed amendment to Atlanta's indecency laws.

The amendment, sponsored by city councilman C.T. Martin, states that sagging pants are an "epidemic" that is becoming a "major concern" around the country.

"Little children see it and want to adopt it, thinking it's the in thing," Martin said Wednesday. "I don't want young people thinking that half-dressing is the way to go. I want them to think about their future."

The proposed ordinance would also bar women from showing the strap of a thong beneath their pants. They would also be prohibited from wearing jogging bras in public or show a bra strap, said Debbie Seagraves, ex

Lol.. Can't show a bra strap or a jogging bra? What the crap.. what a moron that city councilman deserves to get canned next election. That's about the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

Next it will be..

"If you don't go outside in a full Robe that covers your entire body, along with a head piece, and some sort of Veil, then you will be arrested and fined or hanged!"

Well, it's just stupid to restrict things you DO like.

So that pretty much leaves the other thing.

Or you could just leave things alone.

So does that tear affect the KNOWLEDGE to be gained in the book? :hmm:

Oh well.. I guess some folks are more worried about the condition of the cover than the benefits to be gained inside.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love reading books. But I have my own standards. If someone were to try to give me a book that was torn, I wouldn't take it. But if it were recommended by them, or the book seemed interesting, I would go buy it. Unless it was a very old book, then I can make an exception.

I don't borrow books. I don't use the Library.

I have a thing about books, I like to buy them, read them, and keep them in as good of a condition as possible.

I have some 10+ year old paperbacks that look like they just came from the Bookstore. I don't bend the spines, I don't fold anything.

I'm a freak :)

Ok so back to the baggy pants issue...
for one, I can't imagine that walking around with your pants down to your balls can be comfortable, hence the reason the wearer is always pulling them up in the front. I see that all the time around here..it's just plain dirty.
As for books, yeh, I'm fussy about mine too..no creases, dents, tears, or folded pages here...
On the bra strap issue..fine, I'll just stop wearing one. No sweat off my back. Then you can't see straps..(which btw are ALWAYS clean-unlike some people who wear the same bra for days/weeks/months on end and never wash it and it is impossibly filthy-gross)

Some parishes in Louisiana have also passed "baggy pants" laws. Heard this on NPR this afternoon. Check out the audio from the show (red "Listen" button at the top). The dude they interviewed, a parish councilman who proposed the law, is a moron. The concepts of legal precident and slippery slope went right over his head. This dude has no business making laws. I doubt he could find his way to the grocery store.
