of course I knew you were kidding. Yeah I think you either really love the movie or you don't. Some people say it's an anime for both anime-lovers and not, but I can totally see why it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people. As a matter of fact, I'm a crazy fan of Miyazaki Hayao and even I didn't like it the first time.

I just picked up Princess Monoke at Costco for $20. I havent seen the movie yet, but I have heard all the positive comments and people who were waiting for it to be released. So is it actually that good a movie? Or is there some other reason why everyone is drooling over it? I have watched plenty of anime in my lifetime, including many unknown titles, and for the most part liked them all. However, with the exception of Akira and Vampire Hunter D I havent bothered to buy any, and those are on VHS. Let me know what people think, etc.

Wow.. I just picked it up at Costco too. Thanks for the tip. I haven't seen it yet, but the fact that it was the highest grossing movie in Japan before Titanic kinda speaks good things about it, eh?

Miyazaki is well known for writing stories that are quite thought-provoking. I'm a fan. :D

I didn't care too much for PM. I watch a lot for Japanese animated features and this one didn't float my boat. The action didn't seem flow to me. Just my HO.
Has anyone here seen the Nandesco or Appleseed? I recommend both. You wont be disappointed.

Well, I finally watched it. I actually thought it was extremely well done and interesting. I only wish I could understand Japanese because after we watched it in english, one of the people there who speaks japanese, watched it as it was intended to be watched. He said that the japanese language version was much better, that it flowed more naturally and more logically. Than again, generally foreign films lose something in their translation, at least from the ones I have watched that i could understand.
