airline ticket prices

I was just pricing tickets for a trip im planning in april . were going to see mickey mouse in orlando. so for S&G I price plane fare from detroit to orlando round trip for 4. the price was $3072 plus tax round trip. now to fly into st.pete airport round trip is $875.00 with taxs. before I add in a $10.00 each way per.person discount . I get for using a special online email member for usa3000 airlines .
so lets see it be a savings of about $2400 to land about 2 hours away .
rent a car for a week at around $400
that still save me 2 GRAND .
it sure pays to shop around to other airports sometimes !

how the heck can a round trip ticket be 7 hundred dollars!!! That doesn't sound right... I can book a ticket from los angeles to anywhere in the country for less that 2 weeks than now and it won't break 400 dollars. Have you tried southwest and some other airlines that aren't on the travel websites?

Hah! There were times for business when I was looking at $1600-1800 round trip tickets between Chicago and San Francisco. Since then, the airlines have stopped raking the business travelers over to coals quite as much.

Did you check around? I went through orbitz and went from detroit to orlando and just picked two random days in april, and it said 194 round trip per person. I can't place how it costs you 3 grand this far in advance unless you are taking the Concorde.

i did it last night and that was what i came up with .for these dates. april 7 to the 14 i do beleave. it was also part of a disney package .and i was using there site .
