Anyone have it yet? Worthwhile? I'm pretty excited about Team Fortress 2, but I'm also a little afraid they may have ruined it... opinions? What about hardware requirements - how beefy of a machine is REALLY required?
How's that Portal game? That looks kind of amusing.

a friend of mine played it the other day at a lan party for his company.. He said it was awesome.
Here is his Review:
I went to my first lan party with my coworkers on Friday night. Our focus was TF2 and wow is that game fun. The class balance is almost perfect; every class has an important role and playing each you really feel like you're contributing. Each class has their own personality as well, with a great set of one liners and animations.
The one class I'm not really a fan of is the Spy. Don't get me wrong, they're powerful... in fact maybe too powerful. As a result it's now common practice to greet every teammate with a shotgun blast to the face in the event they might be a spy. Friendly fire is almost never turned on as a result, and I think that kind of hurts the game a bit. Other than that, the game is honestly perfect.
I'm not a professional game critic, but if I had to rate the game in the following categories, here's how it would rate:
Graphics: 9.5 (couple minor glitches)
Sound: 10 (the voices are perfectly matched for the classes, the other sounds are awesome)
Gameplay: 9.0 (there needs to be some way of identifying a spy without shooting teammates, other than that it's perfect)
Fun factor: 10 (I can't imagine any fps fan not having fun playing this game)
You can pick it up with the Orange box which contains HL2, HL2: Episode 1, HL2: Episode 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal (really looking forward to this game), all for like $45-50; a great deal IMO.

they did not ruin TF. They made it super awesome.
About the only thing I miss is not having the different kinds of grenades each class had, but you don't really miss it.

Excellent - I'll have to pick it up & give it a try. Hope my machine can handle it OK. I'd hate to be 'that guy' who buys a new machine to play one game.

Oh whatever, we're all "That guy" at least once or twice :)

If all else fails, I'll be upgrading! I'll just make up some plausible sounding excuse that doesn't involve gaming.

The Orange Box (PC) is $39.99 at CC this week... just incase anyone was ready to buy it and was looking for a decent price.

I heard a lot of really good things abut it.

I kind of want to pick this up, but considering I can't get the Original Half Life 2 or the Episode 1 Expansion to run all the way through properly no matter what I do, I'm sure I'll have to avoid it for now.
7800 GS Video card, with updated drivers, I should have no problems, but I do.

I did finally get this for Christmas - Portal was MUCH better than I thought it would be, but a bit too easy. I blew through it in a couple of days. Hopefully they'll include this in some multiplayer games in the future.
Still getting used to the new Team Fortress. I like it so far!
Y'all can feel free to add me to your Steam list - I'm Jeffbx there too.

*end video to portal, don't watch it if you haven't beaten the game*
So entertaining.
