Get $700 off the normal installed price for performance headers for the
current generation BMW E60 M5 and E63 M6!  These equal pulse headers have
larger primary tubing, unique collector, laser cut head flanges, two-stage
ceramic coating, and a 62% increase in flow.  They're tuned for low and
mid-range power.  This breaks down to $4499 for the headers and just $800
for the 15-hour install labor charge.&nbsp; This also includes a dyno run on a $60k DynoDynamics eddy-current dyno afterwards. Expires 11/9/07.&nbsp; <b>

Good Grief, you can buy an entire American performance engine for that kind of money. !!

$4500 header install charge, 15 hours? That doesn't sound right!

have you guys looked underneath the hood of the current generation m5? access is not the most convenient,... i don't have one, but i've heard plenty that spoke of the difficulty in doing the work on these beasts.

OK, $700 might be about right for the installation, but $4500 just for the headers? What are they made of..gold? I can buy a high performance American made engine for that price, including headers.

They're the cheapest ones on the market. Next cheapest is $7k (SuperSprint & RD Sport).

Average install is $2000, lowest competitor is $1500.

Some people must have more money than brains, considering that headers only offer minimal additional power.

On this vehicle, it's about 40hp to the wheels (similar gains for all 3 brands) on a DynoJet and a few hp less using a DynoDynamics dyno. I think the only bigger hp gain is nitrous ($4000 + install from only company that does it, ASR Engineering), and stroker motors ($45,000 + core charge from Dinan and RD Sport).

I assume that this engine is already turbocharged?

Even if it isn't , it appears that there are few shops willing to perform aftermarket mods, so they must be charging an arm and a leg.

Nah. Mods would be much cheaper and more effective if the vehicle was turbocharged. Ultra high compression, variable valve, normally aspirated (which makes things expensive).

I guess that the E60 and E63 must be expensive cars, so they can take their owners for a ride.
