Hello,

My D-Link router died finally. I bought this it was cheap..
http://www.buy.com/prod/cp-technologies-wbr-3406tx-wireless-router-54mbps-802-11g-4-port-cable/q/loc/101/202592906.html
and the wireless is working fine.

But when I hook up my secretary's computer to it the internet doesn't work.

here's the manual http://download.level1.tw/level1/manual/WBR-3406TX(EN).pdf

I setup the network with the cable directly hooked up to my laptop... I don't know if that makes any differece.

Also, if it helps, i'm on windows xp mce, while she's on win 98se..

Any ideas? i tried a new cable... and that wasn't it... also... i connected the wire directly to my laptop with no problems.

Do you think somehow the network card got fried? how do i check?

thanks,

DarkFury

Did you enable any security on it? Do you have any firewall programs running in the background?

Can she connect to the internet directly without the router attached? If so.. then it is not the NIC card in her computer.

I'm a little confused. So your XP machine works when connected to the router via ethernet, but hers does not when connected via ethernet? I'm not sure if you are using the wireless at all.

I agree with DarkFury's diagnosis though. If you can clarify then I'm pretty sure we can knock it out.
