SSSSSS: Friend's Family Kidnapped

My friend's family attempted to move back to Afghanistan this past year to reclaim their home and land. Their family has recently been harassed by the "military and police." She just received a call from her mother that her father is now "missing" and her brother is in jail after their neighbors were forced into confessions.

My friend asked me to send letters to my congressman for his support. I was wondering if there was something else I could do. Is there some agency out there who can help? Any advice?

Not a good situation. :( As far as other agencies to contact, the only thing that comes to my mind is Amnesty International.

I wish your friend's family the best of luck. This must be a terribly stressful situation for all involved. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

As far as agencies, I'd probably notify my congressman and senators. The FBI has a very, very significant presence in Afghanistan, so contacting them may help as well.
