296 frickin' yards of rushing! 3 TDs! Geez! This kid is an animal! Props to whomever has him on FF.

Plus he had 11 yards of receiving.

307/536 of the total yards were his.

In...sane....

All LT could get was 40 yards rushing. Chargers looked pretty bad today. But not as bad as Denver who lost to Detroit 44- 7. Chargers face Colts next week who let the Pats slip past them. Peterson was pretty amazing.

Detroit's Shaun Rogers was something to see this monster return a interception. 340-pound tackle Shaun Rogers went 66 yards with a Ramsey interception. then spent the next four minutes inhaling oxygen and wearing a cold towel on the Lions bench.the guy didn't say anything to the press about it after the game .he not one to brag .

Hardly anyone except Oklahoma fans have Peterson on their FF Teams. :)

All of us that follow Oklahoma football closely knew he would be a great running back. Now all he has to do is stay healthy. :) He runs so hard sometimes he takes a bad hit and breaks a few ribs or something else.

He just locked up the "Rookie of the Year" award with his performance yesterday. Brad Childress should turn him loose every game and see good results for the Vikings.

I was laughing watching the video of Shawn Johnson running. It is great seeing a huge lineman trying to chug down the field.

Apparently this was the second 200 yard game for Peterson. Guys who like to run over defenders tend to have short carreers though. Colorado had a Heisman finalist named Chris Brown who tore up opposing teams - often by running them over. In just two seasons, he was second all time at CU in rushing with over 2,700 yards and was drafted by Tenessee where injuries have limited his action. Emmett Smith avoided direct tacklers and had a very long career.

:stupid: An injury is the reason he didn't win the Heisman and become a huge name. If he can stay healthy he's a menace.

I think that's why they are trying to beef him up. That's also why he coughs up the ball every once in a while. Usually it has nothing to do with Ball Security, just that he wasn't expecting to run into a Brick wall.

He is still used to college ball where he was a good size to run into people. But even there he still had broken ribs or other injuries. A Broken Collarbone last season after diving into the end zone.

He still plays (at least he did in college) with broken ribs. I'm not sure if he could just tape them up and go in the NFL, but he doesn't like to avoid the hit.

We'll see if they can mold him to be able to safely do a bit of both. The problem with Minnesota is that they don't really have a QB that is decent right now, so they need him to do what he does.

He wasn't able to stay healthy in college and that will be the test in the NFL. He has a ton of talent but runs very upright and that has spelled problems for some other NFL backs.

As long as he stays healthy he will run away with rookie of the year honors.

Peterson said after the game he thought it was a sprain and he will have an MRI exam Monday.

"I feel a lot better than I did when I got hit in the knee," Peterson said. "I'm feeling pretty good right now."

Apparently the initial diagnosis was a sprained MCL, which hopefully means he has a Type I or worse a Type II sprain. Injuries like this can have serious career-affecting consequences, and for such a bright prospect, cross your fingers and hope that it's just a type I. I've torn this ligament group and trust me, it's not fun.

Well he walked off the field. He also tried to come back in the game, but they wouldn't let him because it was late and they were losing too bad anyways. I'm sure he is fine.

I hope he is fine. He was just starting to get to show his skills in the NFL.

Well now the AP is reporting that he has a type II+ tear of his Lateral Colateral Ligament (LCL), which is on the opposite side of the MCL that was reported initially. Type II is a partial tear, so there's still something there holding it together but it will be painful to the touch and with any stress applied to it. Both the LCL and MCL are "good-healing" ligaments as they have good blood supplies. This is maybe not a season-ending injury, but he's definitely out for a while. :(

At least out for next weeks game. This tear won't require surgery, and he should come back in a couple weeks. NFL Primetime stated that if a lineman had sustained this type of injury that he would still be able to play, but because of the moves made by running backs, Peterson needs to sit out at least the next week.

I hope they let him sit out enough to allow him to fully heal. Don't rush him back like some other teams have done with their stars.

AP was one of my fav college players. He almost got the heisman his rookie year, but it went to someone closer to home. I think he got injured his sophomore year and his junior year in the last game or something. It was even worse because it was the 1st time his dad could see him play since dude was locked up for 10 years. He didnt get to play in the bowl game and people passed on him cuz of his coming back from injury and stuff. I hope he bounces back again and continues to shine. The kid is nice.

It wasn't the last game. Just a somewhat unimportant game, minus his dad being there for the first time. They already had the game won and he made a dive into the end zone that could have (in hindsight) been avoided.. And he broke his collarbone.
