View Full Version : San Diego "beats" Indy.

Just got back from the San Diego game. Peyton actually beat Indy today. San Diego had another horrible showing on offense, but at least it looks like their defense and special teams practice is helping.

Yeap Indy beat itself in an ugly game. Peyton Manning gave the team a chance to win it at the end but the Adam Vinetary (sp?) lost it.

Take away two kick returns for touchdowns and the Chargers get beat. Even if you take back the giimme they gave back by fumbling in their own endzone for a free Colts score. The offense did nothing. The worst divisional leading team right now. Indianapolis did more to lose the game than San Diego did to win it. Not something you can build on or look back towards as you head into the rest of the season.
86 net yards passing.
91 rushing.
Only 3 of 11 successful third down attempts.
11 first down to 25 by the Colts.
50 offensive plays to 84.
The offense has not won a game in over a month. They lost to the Vikings badly. They beat Houston, but only via kick returns and turnovers- the offense was again outplayed. The only games the offense has played better than the opposing team?
Chicago (4-5 record now)in the first game of the season,
Denver (also 4-5)
and the Raiders (2-7).
The good news is that they still get to play the Raiders again. Denver who is hot and cold was hot this week.
What happened to one of the most productive offenses in the league from last year- who supposedly got a little better in the off season?

I only have two words..... River Sucks
He cant even get the snaps right. I think over the past 2 weeks he has 4 fumbles with the center to QB hand off...

I liked how shocked LT looked during the post game interview. He was surprised that Adam missed the FG too. LOL LT rules. I've always said he is the best player in the league... just wish he was a Niner lol

PM played a horrible game. I cannot believe that some people consider him the best QB in the NFL after a performance like that. I know people have their bad days but that was worse than a "bad day".
Rivers has always sucked. I said when he got drafted as high as he did that it was a mistake.

I still don't think Rivers is that bad. Last year wasn't necessarily just a fluke that he did well. If they had kept even some of the coaching staff from last year, I think they might be a little bit more in sync with each other.
On the plus side, like I said earlier, they are getting better on special teams and defense. Which is a major improvement for them. If only their offense would help out now.
On the other hand at least Rivers "Interceptions" weren't blatant blown plays like Mannings were. Manning was getting read by a First Time NFL Starter and getting picked off like it was nothing. Rivers was getting unlucky when his receivers couldn't hold onto a wet ball, or the receiver got knocked completely out of it before they even had a chance to get near.
But if anyone was expecting San Diego to do well in the rain they are dumb :) San Diego doesn't get RAIN. I figured Peyton would come in here and clean house because of it, obviously he doesn't like rain either.

Man, that was an extremely ugly game. San Diego kept trying to give Indy the game, Indy just refused to take it.

Yes it was ugly. Many here in SD think fault lies with Rivers but I agree with Thesifer. I don't think Rivers is bad, I think the problem with the SD offense is with Norv Turner. He's a good offensive coordinator but sucks as a head coach. What was with the two wasted challenges, and the lack of a strategic mix of plays in the second half involving Gates, Chambers, LT, or even Micheal Turner? SD had a 23-0 lead midway through second quarter and couldn't score the rest of the game?
Manning's 5 picks allowed SD to hang in there and Vinatieri's, (sp. for you bachviet :D), missed field goals gave SD the game.
I can tell you the problem. Norv Turner.

I guess Indy was better at giving the game away. If they were playing hot potato or old maid they would have won! :P :D

The Chargers were so bad they could not even lose right.
This has to be in big part blamed on the coaching. We saw last year what the players were capable of- and I don't think that this year is only about teams making adjustments to San Diego. The Chargers are not making adjustments- as proven by their inability to score in the second half. The local paper on Sunday had a piece on how frustrated the offensive linemen are getting for not being allowed to to things that used to work so well for the team in the past. http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/chargers/20071111-9999-1s11chargers.html

wow Rivers is over rated. Eli or Phillip... both sucked

I'd blame that more on the rookie center that's been replacing Nick Hardwick.

i fell out of my couch when he missed the field goal, and LT face was priceless, he was shocked that they won, or should i say the special teams won the game, im getting sick of this roller coaster team, one day it the o line, then the next its the D line, they both need to show up for the game.....

Still, I would take Philip OR Eli, over Ryan Leaf that they took in the Peyton/Leaf Draft year :)

Never, in a million years, would I consider such a thing. I was in Arlington last February and my Father-in-Law and I stopped by the construction site for the new stadium so I could get some dirt from it, just so I could piss on it during the regular season. :D

And still they've appeared in eight Superbowls and tied for most SB wins with SF and Pitts. :P

I mean how do you think his interview went for San Diego?
I mean, how do you go in with one of the worst active records and get HIRED?! Maybe I should try to get on their coaching staff, I have no Losses! (no wins either, but it's better then Norvs!)

Aren't most of his "wins" from when he was an offensive co-ordinator ?? All I know is he took a 14-2 team and turned them into ****. I didn't like Marty ball but he sure as h*ll never put such unprepared teams on the field as Norv has this year. There is a good team somewhere in San Diego's locker room. Norv just doesn't seem to have the ability to bring them out to the field.

Norv is an X's and O's, wonky kind of genius. He makes an excellent coordinator. But he CANNOT lead men, on the field or off it. He is not cut out to be head coach.

I am a die hard Chargers fan and this season has been heartbreaking for us. Rivers played so good last year. Yeah, we can say it's Norv but the coach can only call the plays, the players have to execute and they haven't been doing much of that.
Sigh....

Well SD should be able to take the division. May be tough for them to get past first round though, but you never know.

I think it would be the best if the clinch the division this weekend ( all they need is a Denver loss.. ) and then lose the rest of their games, and then win the Super Bowl. lol. Not going to happen, but it would be funny.

I've played the whole scenario in my head but another win is all SD can hope for in the beginning.
Being a SD resident since 86' I've grown to love the Chargers as my second favorite team and have long dreamed of seeing a Cowboys/Chargers Superbowl. The closest I came to seeing that was SB XXIX, but my Cowboys lost the conference to the Niners 28-38. Well you know the history.

Yes, it was tense those last couple minutes. It was nice seeing LT make the winning score. Looked as though he was upset with Rivers because he got up and walked away when Rivers sat next to him. But if SD doesn't hurry and shape up they won't make it past first round.

Are the Chargers trying to see how poorly they can play in a game and still win? Good news is they get to play the Raiders one more time. Denver is playing better lately. Still have them and Detroit. Yeah, I don't think they will get far in the playoffs.

I have them beating New England and going to the Super Bowl against the Cowboys who will beat the Packers for a second time.
