Cheapie's mention of his weight loss (good job, cheapie!) reminded me that I haven't posted an update since my 4 month (http://www.gotapex.com/1137053-post20.html) photos. Here's one year's progress for me:

8" off the waist
5 inches off the chest and hips
2.5 inches off the neck
47 pounds off the scale

First, in the interest of full disclosure, my wife (and I, although she is the one who does all the business) are distributors for the MLM company that produces this product.

I'm using a plan called Cinch put out by Shaklee. It's primarily a meal-replacement shake (along with nutritional supplements). They add the amino acid leucine to the product, which encourages the body to build muscle. The result is that the metabolism doesn't drop into "starvation" mode as the calories are reduced, and because the body is triggered to build muscle, it utilizes fat (rather than using muscle first as it would typically). I use it for breakfast and lunch, and eat a normal dinner.

At about 6 months I had hit a bit of a plateau, and I added some walking to my daily routine. I typically take a 40 minute walk during my lunch hour (cover about 2.5 miles). That helped me get back on track taking off the pounds/inches.

If you want to see more, you can visit my wife's Cinch site at http://www.cinchplan.com/connie

By the way, my doctor is a big fan of this program.

I think we figured it costs us about $8/day (you get discounts as a distributor, etc.). Granted, not cheap - but if I know a lot of people that will spend $8/day on a lunch (that can have the opposite effect of these products ;) ).

If the stuff works then I am sure the person using it will not think it is too expensive at $8/day. I am going to investigate this stuff further and if things pan out then I will try to get one of my friends to start using this stuff.
