Late in September I was at the dentist and mentioned that I had some dull pain/sensitivity above one of my upper canine teeth. He took some x-rays and decided I needed a root canal :( (the procedure went quite well). He wasn't sure if I would still need oral surgery to "clean out" the area above the tooth. Well, late afternoon on Saturday the area started hurting big time. I called the dentist and got started on antibiotics. It took 3 ibuprofen to knock down the pain (for about 5 hours). Late Sunday evening the area opened up through the gum, which really eliminated the pain (took off the pressure). I went to the oral surgeon today and he cleaned out the area (cut back the gum and bored onto the jawbone to get the bad stuff out - had to clip the root of the canine and adjacent incisor in the process). So now it's ice packs, vicodin, etc. for a while. Probably means that Thanksgiving dinner :turkey: :dinner: :munch: is out of the picture  .

Haven't taken any vicodin since 2:00am, and not feeling too bad. Some mild swelling, and a bit of a black eye. Still icing to keep the swelling under control.
By the way, both of the "involved" teeth have had root canals, so at least there's no nerves in the teeth to get involved with things.
On the plus side, I don't have much of an appetite, so I've dropped a couple of more pounds. :D

On the plus side, I've got some extra Vicodin now and will load up on them some other time when i need to relax.
fixed. :wavey2:

Just got home from our drive over to the Ann Arbor area (passed through Cheapieville en route). My mouth has been doing much better, and I was able to enjoy everything in the dinner :munch: :lick:. If I had had an extraction or such, it would have been much harder to eat, but since all my stitches are in my gum (next to my upper lip) they aren't such a problem (as long as I don't need to use my upper teeth to take a bite out of something such as an apple). We needed to get back tonight because both of my sons are in retail jobs (Nate starts at Fry's at 4:15am and works until 9pm!).

Glad you were able to enjoyed your dinner Markel. Would've sucked not to be able to indulge in a little Thanksgiving dinner.
