I may have posted my frustrations with my "I promise it will be compatible with the new "N" and "MIMO" technologies" from both the retailer and Belkin a year or two ago, only to find out that my later-purchased Inspiron e1505, with "draft-n" and no PCMCIA slot (only expresscard) will not converse nicely with my wireless router.
Finally, after deciding I didn't want to be tethered anymore, I sent Belkin a nice question/letter from their web page, basically explaining that I purchased their primo-"pre-N" router and card, which both worked wonderfully until I got my Inspiron about 1.5 years ago. As there is no firmware available, and I'm basically stuck with buying a new router to become a wandering internet addict, I asked if they could help.
To my surprise, they sent back a nice email apologizing, saying that they'd been working from the beginning with the negotiations for the "N" standard, and if I called a phone number and gave a confirmation number included in the email, even though my router is out of warranty, they will replace it free of charge with their newest "N/Draft-N/whatever" router. Just send it it, and I'll get a brand new one.
Yay for customer service...first time I've said that without sarcasm in a while.
So, props to Belkin...I recommend them.
