Jamie Lynn Spears, 16, is apparently pregnant. The words that could be said here. The mocking to begin.

I'll leave my statement in three parts:
1) Suprised, but not so surprised.
2) Wondering what's up in that family.
3) Glad that they're facing responsibility and taking care of the child (and let's face it, that kid won't want for much). Wish the best to the young mother to be, and while it's not ideal - I understand how hard this job is going to be and hope she has a good support structure.

well Britney's hard work as a role model certainly failed her sister

Yep it's a definate..she gave an interview to OK magazine (don't you guys read Perez Hilton?)
If her boyfriend is 19, and she's only 16, isn't it considered RAPE that he is having sex with her??? Or is that only in NY? Anyway, why the hell was the guy living with her????? Why is it that her mother didn't explain how babies happen? In this day and age there is no reason to get pregnant. PEOPLE KNOW HOW THIS CAN BE AVOIDED..if you ask me, the kid was just looking to get more attention than her sister. (both skanks if you ask me)

My thoughts exactly. But since I'm here...why not give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she won't be the same type of mom. Of course at 16, I agree she shouldn't even be a mom yet, even by a church going father-to-be.

Hmm....church on Sunday...sinning the rest of the week. :disa:

EDIT: Wow, broke 1,000 posts with this one....only 30,000+ to catch up to DF. :D

And to further the hilarity:

Lynne Spears' Parenting Book 'Delayed'

Britney Spears' mother Lynne has delayed the release of her forthcoming parenting book following the news daughter Jamie-Lynn is pregnant.

Jamie-Lynn, 16, confirmed she is 12 weeks pregnant with student Casey Aldridge's baby during an interview with OK! Magazine on Tuesday. And the news has forced Lynne to postpone the release of her book about raising her famous daughters. A spokeswoman for publishers Thomas Nelson tells People.com, "The book is delayed indefinitely. It's delayed, not canceled."

Meanwhile, Spears' mother Lynne has spoken of her shock at the news. She says, "I didn't believe it because Jamie Lynn's always been so conscientious. She's never late for her curfew. I was in shock. I mean, this is my 16-year-old baby." And Jamie-Lynn insists she will keep the child - due in June - although she was initially "scared".

Jamie-Lynn Spears She says, "As soon as I found out for sure from the doctor, I took two weeks to myself where I didn't tell anybody. Only one of my friends knew because I needed to work out what I would do for myself before I let anyone's opinion affect my decision. Then I told my parents and my friends. I was scared, but I had to do what was right for me."

"It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected. I was in complete and total shock and so was he."

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Unfortunately there are still some young girls out there that looks up to popular media stars for role models. And Lil' sis Spears was that to a lot of little girls who watch Nick and her show Zoey 101.

There are a lot of parents doing some damage control with their 6 and up year old daughters right now.

There in lies a problem too! My kids watch Zoey 101, once in a while. It's not a bad little show. But, daughter does not know that Spears is pregnant. She doesn't need to know that, and isn't exposed to that sort of gossip.

Layla, I would hope more parents would keep this type of gossip from their kids. Or even better, find role models for kids that aren't media sweethearts or popstar wannabes. When my kids do hear it (kinda hard with a 13 yr old who likes to watch news and it's a leading story-not this one, but crap in the past), we talk about it - life lessons type of a talk. She tends to roll her eyes when it comes to Spears, Lilo and Hilton. She doesn't get girls like that. (I hope that stays true for a long time :) )

Oh, and at 13, she'd hear it at school before she got to the news at home, probably! I know when they get to that age, it'll be a little hard to avoid this kind of stuff, but right now, she's really a youngin'. It does appall me when her classmates start talking about this sort of stuff, Ijsut want to stop their parents and ask "What, exactly, IS wrong with you?"

Yeah, Josh hasn't said anything and I don't plan on telling him. If he brings it up, we'll talk about it. But at 10 (almost!), he doesn't know about sex yet and doesn't read or hear about news like this at home. So if he hears about it at school, we'll deal with it.

Ha Ha! Me neither. I knew of her but just that she was Brits lil' sis. Oldest niece watches MTV and Disney and 2 yr old niece watches Boomerang cartoons. So I had no idea. :D

My oldest daughter & I will be having a talk about it (she's 10). She watches Nick & likes JLS' show, so I want her to hear about it from her parents. Plus it gives me a good chance to drill into her head that this is NOT a good idea & JLS is NOT making a smart choice.

Everyone's different but I sure knew about sex and remember wanting it around then. I sure didn't talk about it with my parents

Really? Bah, thinking about it now, I knew about it by 4th grade (friends told me in the bathroom at school in 3rd grade. heh) but I certainly wasn't wanting it quite yet. 6th grade, yeah. Didn't do anything about it yet tho. heh

6th? that's like 11 isn't it? As in 1 year to go.

Jenny

Nah, closer to 12.5, I think. It was toward the end of my 6th grade year. I turned 10 in the middle of my 4th grade year, same as Josh is. But still, it's scary how close that is. *gulp*

Sex at 16 in southern california is probably a 50/50 proposition. depends where you live and what you are around but its not that uncommon. if she didn't use protection, well she's silly. If it failed, well, she's an example of what can go wrong if you role the 20 sided dice too many times.

Heard it reported that her mom's book on parenting was to be released on mothers' day. Wow.

Also, it appears that, whether the sex happened in LA or CA, it was illegal...either misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a minor (age of consent in LA 17) or felony statutory rape.

H <---was only a few miles from Kentwood, LA last weekend, where evidently this may have originated (well, I know that Britney and family did.)
