Courtesy of Computeractive (http://www.computeractive.co.uk/avg/index) Magazine. Needless to say, they're slammed...

Somebody put the file up on Divshare as well. It is legit and I have just installed it on the machine that I am posting this from.

Enjoy!

Edit - the Divshare link is no longer any good, but this link (http://www.wikifortio.com/579738/avg7_503a1171.exe) is for thirty days - Password is avg (case-sensitive)...

Saw this a couple of days ago. It took me scores of tries to get the download started.

The avg on divshare is the free version. doesn't have all the settings the pro does. Anyone got a login for the computeractive website?

No login necessary. Just 1) use the link above to go to the web page and 2) click on the "Download Now" button. You'll probably get a "530 Maximum number of simultaneous logins reached" alert, so keep repeating step (2) until the download starts.

I downloaded from divshare and got the Pro version. I had the free version on my computer before so I see the difference. When I open the program it is shown as 7.5 Professional.
Thanks for the link.

Agreed. I also had the free version and downloaded it from divshare. It acted like it was already installed, so I selected "repair" during the install and it upgraded the free version to pro.

Thanks mechmike0034!

Thank you. This found 1 potential problem my software didn't catch.

ok it seems that there are some differences... But it doesn't seem like it's the complete professional version

Go here (http://www.grisoft.com/ww.90223), enter the license key from your AVG 7 Pro (if you got a copy from Computeractive...) and you can upgrade for free to AVG 8 Pro.

If you missed out on the free AVG 7 Pro, click here (http://www.wikifortio.com/288515/avg7_503a1171.exe)...

The AVG 7 Pro license key is visible under Help...

The AVG 8 license expires 12/01/2008. The AVG 7 Pro license was good for a year, so you really aren't losing anything...

I just upgraded, more out of curiosity than anything. It took two reboots to get everything working and up-to-date. AVG now has integrated anti-rootkit and anti-spyware capabilities, along with some other stuff. Let's hope it doesn't turn into bloatware...

I have been using the free non Pro version for 6 months and have absolutely no problems. But then, it's Windows 98.

mechmike0034, I downloaded the software alright, but to upgrade it to the version 8 is the problem because it is not accepting the licence code in the version 7 pro of the link you provided

Hmmm... you might be right. I was just following the steps and got this message from the AVG Upgrade site:
An error occured
The license number you entered is not valid for this operation.

FWIW, The license I was putting in started with "75VNU" which I suppose identifies the product chain it belongs to.

Not sure if this is helpful or not. But, are you entering the correct license number from the AVG 7.5 you downloaded? You can find it by clicking:

1. Help
2. About
3. Version

I found my license number and entered it into the link provided in the above thread. It upgraded me to AVG 8.0.

If you have already done this and it still doesn't accept your code, perhaps they changed something because too many people were upgrading?
