Having live electrical wires fall on her truck and set it on fire wasn't enough to slow a motorist in southwest Michigan. State police say the unnamed woman ran a stop sign Monday night in Van Buren County's Paw Paw Township and hit a cable supporting a utility pole.

The pole came down and the wires fell onto the truck, but the woman backed onto the roadway and resumed driving.

Trooper Rick Carlson said the driver kept going until flames engulfed the truck and she had to jump out. An ambulance caught up to her and took her to a Kalamazoo hospital for burns to her hands and head. Her injuries weren't life-threatening.

Carlson says the woman's dog, a pug, also was burned but survived.

Augh...my mom and I just got into a huge fight about this. She has decided she no longer likes my boyfriend because he lets me drive. Mind you, the car is mine, not his...she wants him driving me around in my car. Her reasoning...driving is a dangerous activity, no man should ever let his woman do a dangerous activity. I am, therefore, only supposed to drive if absolutely necessary (i.e. there is no man around to drive me.)

And no, I'm not joking about this...

Had to pull my elderly moms drivers license away this past summer. Loss of freedom for her, but the rest are now safer.

How old is your mom? Does she drive at all?

My mom's about 65...and a horrible driver. She does drive, but only when necessary. She usually makes my 69 year old dad, who is also an awful driver, drive her around. When I come home to visit though, I get roped into being her personal driver. Her logic in allowing me to do a dangerous activity....I'm not sure...overall, she's just very frustrating.

Oh I may add that my parents are immigrants from Viet Nam...I'm not sure if that affects anything and makes their views different.

my father inlaws 81 years old and drive. drives me crazy all his turns have to be right hand turns.he go out of his way so he makes right. he also drives the speed limit or less. and swears at other drivers how pass him. he even pull over and cuss at drivers as they go around him if he feels they been tail gating .but for the most part he fits right in seeing he driving 6 months a year in clearwater florda . the drivers there are nuts and so are some of the traffic laws .i call it u turn city .
