so we get home from the ozarks by way of nashville by way of k'zoo and i'm tired. my wife tells me the van (a '04 nissan quest) is dead. ok. so whilst shoveling a foot of crappy snow out of the driveway i jump it and leave it run for an hour or so to charge the battery.
she calls me yesterday and says it's dead again. i leave work a little early, jump the van and drive it to autozone to get a new battery. i take the thing out, using the tools i brought to remove the thing, a total PITA btw. i take it in and ayup, it's got problems.
i take the new one out and spend a long time trying to get it into the van. there's crap in the way and i'm struggling to get the battery cover, wires, metal holder things, etc. all to fit in a little hole. so i take my glove off so i can get a better grip on the stupid thing.
DING! what was that sound? :gle:
THAT WAS MY mo$%#*F*#*#ng wedding ring! i spent the next hour or so trying to find it. i had to go borrow a POS flashlight from the store and couldn't see anything. i then just bought a better one but it didn't help either. after laying on the ground in a freezing parking lot on the floor mats i decided there was no way to find it.
i drove home and intended on putting it on the ramps in the garage....which required me to tramp through the backyard in 2 feet of snow and struggle around in a dark shed looking for the stupid things.
of course the van wouldn't pull up on them because of the low bumper. *$%&!
i jacked up the van and put a ramp and a 4X4 under the side so it wouldn't fall on me while i was poking around.
after a little while, i saw something shiny in between the plastic cover underneath the engine and the oil pan. woohoo! so i got it back. but not before having ice/mud water drip in my face.
so...good times. yay me.
