with the 50 plus weather the past 48 hours . the quick melting of 20 inchs of snow from last weeks snow storm. and the 3/4 of a inch of rain from midnight so far today .i have streams of flowing on my basement floor . im just glad i didnt have anything of importance sitting on it .
they say were got more heavy rain coming till tomorrow morning . im sure im not alone but i feel bad for others that are having this same problem right now . were not in a flood prone area. im sure a lot of people around me will be calling there insurance Companys today and tomorrow. but most will find out there not insured for this type of water damage . i don't live in a area you need flood insurance.:pissed:

i,m just glad i have a sub pump and 2 wet and dry shop vacs .and a backup pump if it really go's from bad to worst.
im sure all i hear on the local news today is about basements flooding .

My brother-in-law has a basement waterproofing business (Detroit area) - I bet he's loving this weather.

I hear you, though. My old house had major cracks in the basement floor and cracked drainage pipes beneath the floor. During heavy rains water would back up from the street storm drains and end up seeping (rather rapidly) into the basement. If I didn't have a standpipe in the basement drain it would become a mini-geyser. I was glad to be done with that problem (when I moved), and my current basement stays bone dry, but the sump pump runs a lot (I've got a battery backup pump as well).

I feel your pain. Last year during the major flooding here I had an entire cellar full of water..ugh.
