I washed all the clothes my kids got for chirstmas and didn't realize my daughter had gotten a pair of really bright pink underwear and tossed it all in the washer. Well When i pulled the clothes out of the dryer and was folding them I noticed that 2 of my babies outfits were pink in places. I was so devastated. so I was doing this just before we were walking out the door and so I grabbed the bottle of spray and wash and sprayed the spots and tossed in a cold sink of water. Well i got home and nothing had changed so I grabbed them and went to my laundry room and grabbed the bar of fels naptha soap and started to rub it on. It looked like it was taking it out so I tossed it in a bucket of water and let it sit. I kept coming down and checking on it the next couple of days and would rub more soap on it and 3 days later it is totally clean. I was so amazed. here it had gone through the washer and dryer I thought it was a goner and it is not.
Thank you for sharing all your sage wisdom with us.

Does Fels Naptha work on ground in baseball dirt and grass? My son's used-to-be-white pants look horrible on his right knee and right butt cheek (the legs he slides on).

Not only does it work, it works better than anything you'll probably ever use again!

So, ok, I am ordering some Fels Naptha from Amazon.com RIGHT NOW. My 12 year old had a baseball tournament in Temecula CA this weekend and they apparently have extra strength dirt/clay/mud in Temecula... the likes of which I've never seen.
Right now I have his, once white, baseball pants soaking in cold water and a light bit of dish soap.
Once my Fels Naptha gets here, on Wednesday, how do I go about getting this dirt outta the pants? Soaking? Do I shave the FN into water and let it soak? Rubbing? Do I take the bar of FN and smudge/rub it on the stains?
Please help.

What you want to do is to take the fels..and shave about 1/2 cup into an old jug, or 2 liter bottle..add hot water and mix it well-it will turn kind of gel like and thicken up..you can spot treat the main stain with direct rubbing of fels and a scrub brush (or old tooth brush) if you like now you don't have to do this..only if it's reallllllly bad...but if you don't want to do that-just add the fels/water mixture into your laundry-let soak for 20 minutes then run through as you would a regular wash cycle.

Thanks much for the added advice. These stains are the worst he's ever gotten. Seriously, I have never seen baseball dirt like this. I was floored when they came out of the washer (after having been treated with regular Spray-n-Wash)looking just as bad as when they went in.
It was so amazing that I took them and showed them to people! LOL
When you say "shave", will an old cheese grater work you think?

yep! That's what I use...if you have a grater with small grates that's even better!

Ok, how about black INK stains from a pen left in a 12 year olds pants pocket and put into the dryer which then ruins both of a mother's only two work shirts, only pair of jeans that fits right, and a Little League jersey?
Any help for this stuff using Fels Naptha?

Both of mom's shirts? I think I'd be inclined to eat all the soap and pray for sympathy. ;)
If this stuff is amazing as you folks say I guess I'll have to add some to the arsenal of laundry products.

I would suggest rubbing it right into the stains and then brushing the area if you can with a soft tooth brush-enough to work the soap into the stains...make sure it's really sudsy after brushing then wash in cool or a warm temp..and make sure the garment is really damp when you pre-treat. Man, you guys are really testing the FELS aren't ya!

Yah, I have had only two work shirts. Now I have exactly... none. *sigh*
I've done as you've suggested Obby. Thanks. I'm crossing my fingers most for the Little League jersey as that's the only non-replaceable item in the load.

I do have to say, I tracked down the Fels ($1.65 at Vons in Chula Vista) and I bought three bars. I grated one and used Obby's recipe, I went through it quick and liked it, but a lot of work for not much return on the product. BUT I have used the remainder of that bar on EVERYTHING around the house. From countertops to table tops to markers on the couch, to marker on the leather chairs. It IS amazing. If Fels doesn't get it up, I jump to the also amazing but far more expensive "Magic Erasers".
On the laundry, Fels didn't work to get my "set in" stains out as I'd read it would, but it HAS done wonders on the stains that kids have caused since buying the soap. It truly is a great product.

I managed to get out most of a fresh spray paint stain with it. I've also been able to use it on oil/grease based stains.

Different one, but I believe they have it at that one too. The Dial Corp website actually has a product search which helped me find it!

It probably won't take stains out that have been set in for a significant amount of time (like months)or if something has been stained, washed, dried, rewashed, dried again that kind of pattern..but it does take out fairly fresh set in, washed and dried stains..and if the fels doesn't work-go with straight tide-which has been known to take melted in crayons and ink out after 3 consecutive washings. I stand by my Fels though-as my grandmothers before me did! I never liked those Magic Eraser thingies..never had any luck with them that I wouldn't have had with a plain old scrubber sponge and elbow grease!

Welp the ink came out of the baseball jersey (mesh net kind of deal) but not anything else. Even with some soft scrubbing with a soft bristle toothbrush and LONG time soaking.
But the jersey was the only "non-replaceable" item, so saving just that made me not have to kill my son. :D
Thanks all.
