The title says it all folks.

I am looking for a rock bottom price on 4gb of DDR2-400 or DDR2-533 (PC2 3200 or 4200) to upgrade my step son's Dell system. I need this in (4) 1GB sticks. He only has 1GB (4 X 256MB sticks) at the moment and needs more to play newer games.

Newegg has Crucial (2) 1GB sticks for $39.49 plus shipping. Anyone see anything better? I am basically cheap, even more so when what I am purchasing isn't for me. :)

I would consider used memory if anyone has a good enough price. (And you are a regular poster around here.)

Let me throw this out there for you -

Why do you want 4GB? Sweet spot for a 32 bit system is 2GB. There are very, very few instances I can think of that would benefit from 4GB if you're still running a 32-bit version of Windows, and of those intsances, nearly every one of them involves a server running Oracle & a massive database with multiple clients hitting it simultaneously.

If you have 4x256 today, just pop out 2 of those & replace them with 2x1GB & run with 2.5GB.

There! Saved you 50%!

ClubIT has PC2-6400 2GB Dual Channel Kit for $19.99 after rebates, plus $3.50 for shipping. Not sure if that'll work for you.
