colts baby! although, 88's fumble and 18's terrible throw aren't helping things any.

Lot of attrition on both sides. Sanders, Thomlinson both go down.

Pats are nice and healthy, though. That's good. :hehehmm:

Billy Volek should stay the starter. Rivers sickens me.... that kid just doesn't learn. he taunts Cutler, lies his way out of trouble, and after this game, he goes off and starts taunting fans. he's a frickin nfl player. he shouldn't be taunting fans like that. 1) he did nothing to deserve it - he sucks, and didn't orchestrate the game winning drive. and 2) that's completely unprofessional.

I've liked billy since his days in the titans. He proved himself once again that he can be a good starting qb in the nfl. start him against the patties.

Unbelievable win by the Chargers! What a great game. I thought that we got a couple of terrible calls against us, like the hold at the end of the 1st half that negated the touchdown. Manning seemed to dominate which makes is surprising how close the game remained. But it was amazing and Chargers fans are stoked, especially since every show/article I watched/read said the Chargers didn't have a chance.

attgig, I hear you buddy Rivers is a master **** talker. If his game was as consisent as his **** talking he'd be a pro-bowler every year. But he got us through these last 2 playoff games so I think he deserves the shot against the Pats. Plus, even though Volek played a fantastic couple of series today, I wouldn't want him in there next week just based on how he's played this year:

Man, another ugly game where neither team deserved to win. GJ to the chargers for sucking less though. I do think they would be the better team design wise to take on the pats. so it should make next weeks game more fun.

I rather loved the game and was very pleased to see the Chargers advance to the AFC Championship game. Now it will make my year if they beat New England. :D

Too bad Dallas is out. I am so bummed.

i would bet 100bucks on the chargers this upcoming weekend against the pats. Because the chargers have improved their game throughout the season and they will be ready for them, besides the pats wins werent shut outs, they just barely won them games. GO BOLTS!

Defence had to save their own butts a few times. Waited until the Colts got into the red zone before a turnover was able to stop them. Bolts could have been down two or three touchdown early. They seemed slow in getting plays going too. Contray to the earlier game against them, the Chargers seemed to make better adjustments than Indianapolis (I almost said Baltimore!). The offense does tend to start slowly. All the injuries are starting to add up although the backups definately stepped up in an amazing way. We already knew we had two good backs for LT- Turner and Sproles. There is a smaller room for errors against New England. I was amazed the the Colts did not really try to run at all.

I'm seriously considering driving up to Lake Tahoe/Reno sometime this week to put money on the Chargers.

To be honest, I had more problems with the way the colts played (I don't care about either team, have friends on both sides but none are my team). I thought that the colts played a pretty miserable game. They had so many opportunities to take out the chargers but they screwed themselves over. The Harrison fumble was acceptable but the two (I think there were two) where they tipped it over to the chargers were bad. Unfortunate because I thought manning did a good job but his receivers (and even worse, his defense) let him down. The chargers got extremely lucky. I thought that the running game did well for the chargers (especially in light of LT getting hurt but they've always been deep at running back). I thought that the passing game of the chargers was very weak and they got lucky that Indy's defense didn't show up in the second half. Not a fan of Rivers or Norv. IMO the chargers are probably the most dangerous team in the NFL if they play to their ability, they just don't seem to this year. I guess most of my disappointment in the chargers is that they don't play as well as their talent level dictates.

sigh....that sucked. colts played without any sparkle. no great defensive plays except for the one interception. no pressure on the qb. one terrible throw by PM. one horrible cough by harrison and by the backup RB.

and that screen pass to sproles was great.

the way the colts were playing they wouldn't have beaten NE anyhow.

the colts played poorly and the bolts deserved to win. and i agree about the pass interference call against SD. i sure didn't see it and i'm an indy fan.

go chargers i guess. anybody but the pats please!

It would have been so awesome to have both the whiney-bitch Mannings sitting on their asses at home during the playoffs. Stupid Dallas. Oh well, Eli will crash and burn next weekend so all will be right again in the universe.

I hope Eli takes up motorcycle riding. . .

I'd take that bet. Thomlinson's goin to be a gimp, as is Rivers, and Gates is trying to catch balls with a broken thumb. And you still have Norvalicious as your coach.

Plus, Pats have a history under Belichick of playing better against teams the second time around in a season.

Best senario: Giants beat GB...Chargers beat NE...Chargers go to Super Bowl and Beat up on another Manning. It would be the perfect season !!

Best senario: Giants beat GB...Chargers beat NE....
That is exactly what I would like to see happen.

Why do I want GB to lose? Ask any Bears fan.

Why do I want NE to lose? Because I don't think they deserve the accolades of a perfect season. There were several games that they didn't win - it's just that the other teams lost. (I do think Brady is a great QB, though.)

I would've voted for Colts, honestly, but I'm so glad to see the Chargers go up.

Pats, baby! Whooo!

On a major side-note: I would've been on kneeling on ashes, wearing a sackcloth, and would've shaved my head if both Mannings had gone on. End of days and all that. The world is slightly less unclean now that one of them has lost. Still, I feel dirty knowing that Eli went on.

Here are my observations and comments on the Chargers/Pats game this weekend.

Chargers: They've improved since the two teams met in Week 2, but weather and injuries are going to be a huge hurdle if it's snowing and/or players aren't 100% healthy. They've won 9 in a row and have been inconsistent, but they've pulled out the stops when they've been put to the test. Let's hope that luck continues this weekend.

Patriots: In their final 6 regular season games, I believe most of them were either pretty close until the final quarter, or they were high scoring (think: no defense) types of games. The Chargers are finally playing like a team and the Patriots (without a doubt) will be coming well prepared. Although the Patriots went undefeated in the regular season, I actually think they have gotten worse as the season progressed.

I honestly believe that if the Patriots defense can't stop the Chargers on a few drives early on in the game, they are poised to lose in a high scoring game.

I agree. I developed a theory along the way. if the colts were going left to right on the tv screen, the top right ref was making all the horrible calls. there was a non-holding call by the chargers D in the second half that helped the colts. there was another one i think that went to the top right and was another bad call by the same ref. I think that ref was getting paid off or something.

and I still like the way Volek has played in this game and has presented himself in the past, that he should get the start. they listed rivers as questionable, and if he's going to be gimpy against a pats d, there's no way they win.

Not for the last 6 or 7 games since the game vs. the Eagles. It did not cover the spread on the last game vs. the Jaguars (13-1/2 points).

zippyjuan

The Pats started getting some crazy numbers on the spread too.
The key in this game could be which team can put more pressure on the other team's quarterback. The Chargers were getting great protection for Rivers and Volek. Colts were unable to get much pressure. If Rivers is on the run, he (and most QBs) have troubles connecting with their receivers. Bolts have been pretty good in the secondary (not great, but pretty good) so I think they should blitz more this week.

That's an interesting observation attgig. It certainly seemed like those calls were so obviously bad. I'm glad it didn't come down to those plays that kept the Chargers from advancing.

The Chargers still have not gotten much credit for beating the Colts. The couple of places that I have listened to/watched have talked a lot about how the Colts blew it, not so much that the Chargers won it. Sure Peyton missed some opportunities. But he did it against the top take-away/ turnover/ special-teams team in the NFL. The Chargers deserve some serious credit for that.

I think that even though it will be tough, it is not an impossible feat to accomplish. If the Chargers play their best game, they can win.

cheapie
01-15-2008, 05:26 AM
i think that comes from the colts having all of their top receivers back and not really capitalizing on it. also, the colts very good pass defense never really showed up. those third down completions by the SD backup killed the colts.

go chargers!

Tom Brady >>>> Peyton Manning/loleli

Manning is terribad, overrated and a attention whore of epic proportions. Let's all watch commercials of how clutch he is, or get his advice, or go to websites to challenge his mind, while actual good QB's sit back and win superbowls.

Look you're an Indy fan, so you are all up on his jock-strap, I get it (For reference I'm a 49er fan). Manning is a great QB, but he chokes on games like a teenager masturbates to porn: often and well.

Always a gentleman and scholar you are, Esdee.

You guys had Brady's number today, no doubt. But Maroney and the defense both stepped up big to survive the Chargers. Norvalicious seems to have finally found himself as a coach.

Giants didn't win...Favre lost.. Both games ended sadly but the Chargers had a great season and have nothing to hang their heads about. I do question all those fgs and not going for the 1st downs. But that is on the coaches not the players. I still love my Chargers and now find myself in the position of hoping NE wins ,so that manning loses.:puke: When does spring training start ???

I was glad to see the Giants win. Otherwise I would have had to root for both teams in the Superbowl to lose, which would have been kind of hard to hope for.
