My wife and I currently have ATT and we got Razrs. Well her battery is dead, and its a newer battery (just over a year old). We looked around at ATT and the obvious and "cheap"(as far as service fees) choice are iPhones. We don't have the money for 2 iphones, and we aren't really sure about using the service.
As this point, i'm mainly interested in something to help me keep track of my life (like a PDA). Does anyone know if you can use a blackberry phone (and the os features) without paying for the data plan?

I have at least a half dozen 7130e's in my office right now that have no service. I just tried one and I was able to add to the calendar. I should work just fine.

I have the Blackjack, and if the Blackberries work the same as Windows Mobile devices, you only need the data plan if you want to sync over the air with your mailbox. If you just want to use it as a PDA, you sync manually with your computer (through USB) & use it as a regular phone with no data plan.
