Friend of mine on my moms group showed me some good AFD recipes and we're going to do these 2 to surprise Josh (who LOVES AFD) tomorrow night:

Mock Sushi
1/4 cup butter
4 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups crisped rice cereal
20 to 25 gummy worms
1 to 2 boxes of fruit leather
12- by 17-inch baking sheet
2-quart saucepan

Colorful Cupcakes
Meat Loaf
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup grated Monterey Jack cheese
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Potato Frosting
3 cups mashed potatoes
Food coloring

The mock sushi looks fun, I don't know about the cupcake meatloaf though. That might be funny to see someone get floored when they are expecting sweet. Won't the smell give it away, or is this actually an April fools gag? They sure look like real cupcakes. :D

Yeah, it'll be an April Fools gag on Josh. He won't even think about it. heh We'll say we precooked a pork loin for Wednesday night or something (we do that occasionally, so won't be a surprise to him)

the sushi is fun! We made it for scouts a few years ago when we did Japan for Thinking Day. The girls got a kick out of it.

The tattoo fruit roll ups don't have cut out shapes.

and it's easier to shape the the rice around the gummies by hand, not rolling it.

*laugh* He didn't. :D I fed him the first bite of the "cupcake" so he didn't realize what it was til he actually took a bite but I forgot to give Scott the camera so you don't really see the surprised look. But he didn't spit it out, he just ate it. heh
