Greetings Apexers I was wondering if some of you might have some experience with the problems that I am having now. I have a DSL connection and a P3 machine with a bunch of RAM. I should be flying on the internet right? Wrong. Whenever I try to surf to a new site, sometimes it takes forever to load. I noticed that most of time in the bottom left corner of it says something like Connecting to a1070.g.akamai.net..
Is this some sort of ad tracker or something like that? I am not going through a proxy and my cookies are enabled. Any advice?

Muchas gracias.

Also I don't know if this is related but many sites, like Rei-outlet, are missing most of their graphics as well. Pretty strange....

Sounds like you may have a dup IP address. Could be the proxy server. Or maybe the DNS is all screwed up. Call the ISP, if it's any of those problems, it should be a quick fix

I am using a router. Perhaps I need to reconfigure my DNS?

Is this with all sites? You should do a tracert to see how long it takes, and what path you're taking, to get to different sites. For example,

(at DOS prompt)

tracert microsoft.com

You can get an internet "weather report" at:
http://www.vservers.com/weather/

akamai is a web caching service... it sounds like your router is trying to act like a local cache .. check the settings, it may be misconfigured

I can't seem to change my DNS server. I think I will start a new thread on how to properly configure SMC Barricade router. Thanks for your help fakesurfer, thebluguy and giambona!
