I'm really getting into bowling, and even bought shoes so I don't have to deal with the rentals.

Just curious if others bowl here, and what your best/worst score was.

Average: 125
Best: 175
Worst: 38 (and this is not when I was six, this was last year, after bowling a 120+)

Best... well technically, my best was a 279 where I had 11 in a row (stupid hanging 10 pin in the first frame screwed me over from a perfect game...)

But my absolute best score to date is a 286. So close to perfection... yet so far.

I don't remember my worst... as it probably happened when I was like 5 years old or something.

Best: 178
Worst: really low, like 50 or so I guess.

Now... my twelve year old son?... his best is 238, his worst is... um... he doesn't have a worst (LOL). I guess his worst is if he doesn't reach average, which is 157.

He looooooves to bowl. Loves it. On school half days my father will bring him bowling and my little guy, he'll bowl 6, 9, sometimes 12 or more games (with all at or above average).

It's kind of how he is with baseball. He'll play a scheduled double header and still want to stay and hang out for the next game "just in case they need another player".

I started bowling when I was 14 during the summers, and then on and off after that. As far as I can remember, my low is around a 75, and a high of 214. I bowled over X-mas with some friends and I got a 141, 145, and 147 and I hadn't bowled in 4 years.

I think a statistician may take issue with this.

My best is a 180.

My worst was a 0 in like early grade school, but the computer glitched and always gave me the 10 pin so i got a 10 according to the books. ;)

Today i think i'd be happy to be in the low 100's. A strike probably happens once a game for me, and gutters probably happen 1/4 throws. Usually after i knock down 8-9 pins, i'll swing and miss... I can't imagine bowling with DF or you people in the 200's. I'd be depressed and need lots of icee's to feel better.

Last time I played was in the Boy Scouts at the Air Force Acadamy (we were camping on their grounds and allowed to use the facilities). I had ten gutter balls in one game. :bump:

Um, ok, I wasn't clear and you're feeling snarky so here's the full explanation of what I was trying to say:

His for-fun bowling doesn't change his league average. Bowling league he bowls lower than when he does it just for-fun.

His league average is ~157, his for-fun average is ~165. So, when he bowls those 6, 9, 12 games, it's at or above his league average (sorry I wasn't more clear in my original post).

And this is why God made handicaps, to help us low end bowlers hang with the 200+'s. :D

It's just the engineer mindset at work. Thanks for the explanation.

Of course, we know that we all live where "...all the children are above average." ;)

There are bowling handicaps? Thats awesome... I need some of those...

And i admit i didn't get your average post either... but now i do and that is interesting. Perhaps when he's chill he does better. Do you tell him that if he loses, he's out of the family? Is it because you made a bet that the father of the boy who doesn't win has to mow the lawn in his wife's sunday dress?

hmm, i've been watching too much Futurama lately.

27x on wii bowling!

Probably closer to roni's scores in non virtual situations. :)

And dang, DF. Almost perfect? That is pretty impressive. Al Bundyish. I think the most strikes I ever got in a row was like 4.

Best is 211.
Average is probably between 140-160 in a 3 hour span.
Worst is below 70...when I was a kid.

I think I've gotten better - but my recent best was 176.
Worst? I don't know - I'm sure I've bowled a 50 at some point in my life.

LOL, this is funny that you ask. Because he's in so many sports and does so much all year long I get to see all the *way* nutty parents and their "perfect" children all the time. Basketball, bowling and baseball (both Little League and Travel).

To counter those nutty folks I'll let them hear me holler at my son, James, something like, "Ok, that's it, no dinner for you!" Or maybe something like, "What? You're not perfect, James? Coach, do I still have to feed him?" (I have a ton of these, depending on the situation.)

Those kinds of things, for my kid anyway, serve to lighten the stress level and remind him that I don't care if he isn't perfect or that his teams might not win every stinking game they play. :D

I just bowled this weekend with Roniman.
Worst was like an 72? best was a 91.
But the 91 was lucky. I had a 65, and hit XX6 on the last frame. Which was nice since i had bowled a few frames of 1. I forgot who has an uploader i can use? I have the score saved in a picture.

This has nothing to do with the question, but I gotta brag.

Took the nieces bowling last weekend and the 2 year old got her first strike with the "red" headpin and won a free game. I think she bowled an 88 or so. I was more excited than she was. :heh:

I have no idea. My father and my son win free games all the time through their leagues. They've not paid for a single game of bowling in five years!

Well, it can get pricey if you have to rent shoes. So I bought my own shoes.

Now I only have to pay for the games which usually range from 2-3 per game.

There's an alley by my house that offers $1 games on Wed nites from 11p-1am.

My high is a 300 I rolled in a junior league about 11 years ago. I've come close since then (289 last summer and a 288 in my current league) but still can't get that second ring.

As with many, I've no idea what my low is. Probably happened when I was pretty young and had to use bumpers.

I went bowling this past weekend and my scores were 121, 125 and 138. It's been at least 4 years since I last bowled. I could have bowled better but when I took out my bowling ball there was a huge crack all the way around. I guess I haven't used it in a while and the temperature difference between the shell and the core split it wide open.

I've never had to pay more than 6 bucks for a game including shoes. If I'm actually trying, I bowl about 100 :D Due to this fact, I try to make it fun instead, so I'll sit in the swirly chairs and have someone spin me at high RPMs until I can barely stand, and then I bowl. We were in lane 1 a couple weeks ago, and I somehow missed the lane completely and the ball went down the service aisle. Consequently, my low score is probably about 20.
