FREE 411 for cell phones?

is this true anyone know ? I have heard this before but never tryed it.
Cell phone companies are charging $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 Information calls.

Since no one carries a telephone directory in their Vehicle, they get away with it.

When you need to use the 411 Information option, simply dial 1(800) FREE 411, or

1 (800)373-3411; you will incur no charge. This works on your home telephone as well.

This is the kind of information people don't mind receiving, so pass It on to your family

and friends. If you enter this number into your cell phone you will always have a way now

to get a phone ; number if you need one.

it's true. tried it. it works. iirc, there's a short ad inserted into the call.

there's also a free one from google. you can send a text message to google (466453), and it will reply with the phone number. same thing with yahoo, but it's less reliable.

1800GOOG411 is also a pretty nice free service (only costing you airtime)

and Goog411 has no ads! doesn't send a text message though when you call, which is a shame, but I don't mind calling it repeatedly cuz it's free.

Av - There's an option for it to send a text message if you want when you ask for details.

Goog 411 is awesome. Though my the CrackBerry I don't have nearly as much use for it anymore.

Yeah, noticed that several months ago. My nephew told me about the free 411. Works and saves you from the charge.
