OK . . . so a few weeks back my 13 and a half year old dog jumps down from the bed and lands badly, dislocating her knee. But not only did she dislocate the sucker, one of the ridges that holds her knee in place cracked off, so the vet couldn't just pop her knee back into place because there was nothing to hold it there! So she needed surgery to dig a new groove into her bone so that the knee will stay in place. Well, because it was the holidays, she wasn't able to get surgery until yesterday . . . and I got her back today . . .

For $1200, I now have a dog with a huge neon green cast on her back right leg, a big morphine patch on her back and half of her ass shaved . . . but at least her knee is fixed . . . now we just have 6 weeks of recovery . . . man oh man . . .

that is so sad! (but i'm sure she looks cute with that cast!)

can she walk yet?

btw, i love dogs, they rock. even ones with shaved asses and patches. :)

Yeah, actually she is walking again already . . . I'm kinda surprised. When I first got her back, she was kind of acting like she just didn't have a fourth leg . . . so she put her other back foot in the middle of her body . . . kinda like a tripod . . . and so she couldn't walk like that and she'd just kinda spin around until she fell over . . . but after a lil while of propping her up and helping her walk, she's got it figured out again! ;)

She does look pretty funny if ya overlook the seriousness of it . . . I kinda wish I had a digital camera so I could post a pic . . . would definitely be good for a chuckle!

That sucks Butch, but at least she is OK. I am a huge mess right now because of my dog.

I took him for his check up yesterday and pointed out this little growth on his ear to the vet. It showed up about 2 weeks ago, and I didn't think it was a big deal. The vet gave me some cream for it and said if it does not go away in 2 weeks it is most likely a "mast cell tumor" as in cancer! Holy shit I am freaking out at the thought, plus waiting 2 wks and watching his ear, willing it to heal is going to make me nuts!

I hope your dog heals OK.

Yikes . . . we've been through the whole cancer scare thing . . . the vets didn't find anything, but they still suspect she has cancer SOMEWHERE cuz she has really high calcium levels . . . I dunno.

Man, the pooch just keeps looking sillier and sillier . . . she picked away part of her cast last night and exposed some of the stitches, so we had to take her in today to have another cast put on and to get her one of those cones to put around her neck . . . so let's recap . . . my dog now has:

1. a huge neon green cast on her back right leg
2. a big morphine patch on her back (On which someone drew
a little heart)
3. half of a shaved ass
4. a big cone around her neck

Man I wish I had a digital camera . . .

I could use a morphine patch right about now. I bet she looks hysterical. She is probably so uncomfortable, plus she looks silly and has you laughing at her. Oh well, at least she got some good painkillers out of it. You probably could have used some after that bill (it's only money, she is worth it).

maybe you should make sure that the patch is working. Why not try it on for a while and see? ;)
