building a new machine. Windows/Fedora/Ubuntu?

any linux users around here? I'm building a new pc, and thought about installing vista (i have the ultimate version installed on a old p4 right now, but it's not powerful enough to handle it - go figure). So, I built a new machine, and... now... I'm rethinking my os.

I just read that the new dist of Fedora just came out and I've always heard good stuff about ubuntu... anyone have any news if the new fedora is really better than ubuntu or that it only "Fedora 9 Gives Ubuntu a Run For Its Money" (yeah, read that article, and somewhat unhelpful...)?

or do i stick it out with M$, or another distro?

i do little to no gaming, so no real reason to stay with windows...

and what's this osx64 thing that I'm seeing in another thread?

Why not dual- or multi-boot and run both Vista and whatever flavor(s) of Linux you'd like?

No need to stick to a single OS. Multi boot them all & see which one you like the best.

I agree with all above.

My main desktop (Q6600 w/ 3GB of RAM) is a triple-boot system (XP Pro SP3, Vista Home Premium SP1, and Ubuntu 8.4).

Dual boot is a great idea. My main OS is Ubuntu 8.04 and my second boot is Win Xp Pro. Ubuntu is fantastic and a great choice for beginning Linux users. I'm not a big fedora fan myself.

i'd go with ubuntu or gentoo. ubuntu will be more friendly.
