so i get OK bonuses at my job, and i get them paid every month which is even better, but my gripe is this:

the company i work for bought a few of our competitors recently (which have not been making any money.) so they decide to give us "stretch targets" which are way past our normal targets (duh.) and then if we hit we get a little more loot. anyway, my office and brand blows all those numbers away, we are rockin' the house right now in the industry. but the stupid other lame-o companies don't hit their targets and then we don't get the bonus because we only get it if we hit the "stretch target" for all the brands combined.

which is bad i think because it only makes us hate this stinking company more.

and it doesn't even matter that we do so well, like if we were to take up thier slack, because our market is really small compared to the other companies in NYC... so obviously thier targers are going to be a bit higher.

grrrr. i need a new job.

My husband is the web designer for a small local company. There is the boss, my hubby, 2 women, and one other male, who assists my husband. That's how small it is. About a month before Christmas, my husband put in for time off for Christmas, because we had to travel to Oklahoma and then to Alabama for my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary party. Then the 2 females in the office both put in time off for Christmas, too, for family obligations. They are both engaged and their fiance's family had plans. His boss got so upset that he had to stay in town to open up the office on the 27th that no one got Christmas bonuses (whereas all the previous years, bonuses were between $500-$1000 EACH!) and no company ski trip in February. PLUS, they were scheduled to have their company Christmas party on Dec. 16th at 8:00. At 2:00, the office manager called and said the boss had cancelled the party! He's an immature jerk who is SINGLE and didn't have any plans for Christmas other than wanting to be able to run off if something did pop up. Grrr! We REALLY could have used that $500!

what an ass!

that is much more terrible then my complaint!

i think i should go into business with myself. i used to like working for a bigger company, i thought there would be good benefits. which i guess i do have. but then there is all this "make everyone in the whole entire company happy without stepping on any toes" mentality thats going on right now and i just want to puke all over them!

but if i were to work for a smaller company, i would still have to deal with crap like Jenny. and then you can't really do anything about it. at least if there is a problem at my company, i can complain until i get what i want. which sometimes works.

o well :(

My company didn't give out any bonuses. They gave about 10 people (out of 250) in the company gifts worth probably about 200 each.

My company dosen't have a maternity leave plan, so one lady who couldn't afford to stop working was working up until the 29th. She had her baby on the 31st. How's that for a christmas bonus?

Styleee: You could try what a friend of mine did, which was to suggest to his boss to make bonuses group-specific. i.e. if products from this group make oodles of money, they get the bonuses.
