Ok, i have a plextor 8/4/32x (got it b4 thnxgiving when it was advertised on gotapex, of course) I was able to burn some data cds and one cd-to-cd copy. A couple weeks later, i noticed that my 40x liteon cd drive is acting funny, eg, it wouldnt autoplay cds and kept giving weird error messages. Other than that it reads fine. However, i can no longer burn cd-to-cd. does anyone know wat to do???
hd and 40x cd are prim. ide master & slave (respectively)
plextor cd-r is on secon. ide master

I had a similar problem with my plextor 8/4/32.
Do the following, as one of these should do it:
-update the software (go the the plextor site)
-get the latest firmware for the plextor

check in the properties to see it DMA is select on either drive. the lite on may not like it - or may need it...depends on the system.
some things just wont burn cd to cd very well, especially if the burner and the reader are on the same IDE channel.

thanx for the suggestions about the plextor drive
now wat about the liteon drive? it still cant autoplay (eg, popping the unreal tourney cd will make the drive say something like "Error, setup.exe caused error in kernal32, blah blah blah...") any suggestions bout that?

Like LPM mentioned - you should have the burner & reader on separate IDE channels. That way one can read at the same time the other writes. If they're on the same channel, it has to read into cache then write from the cache.
