So as a phone admin at my current employer, I pondered how it might be fun to rickroll people by changing the phones to ring with the song. While he wasn't sure how to mass produce this, instead he used the cisco intercom system to deploy the song to individuals phones at random.

hahaha...

Out of nowhere, you'd hear a phone a ways away start blaring rick astley, followed by a loud "what the hell?"

good times...

My only question is...

Why is the "Rickroll" so funny? Is there something really funny about the song or the video?

I guess I just don't get it (maybe I just have the wrong perspective on it. )

I haven't really got the "funny" part of it, but I think something is funny about the "unexpectedness" of it all. Like, you don't think it will be a skinny redheaded nerdy kid singing that song. But I'm not entirely sure.

I think on a Black website... you'd get "Rick Rossed"...

"Everybody hustling... everybody hustling... THE BOSS!!!" :fro:

it's a terrible song. it's a terrible video. and it'll get stuck in your head and you'll curse the person responsible.

to me, it's one of those things that gets funnier the more creative the roll gets.

Sure, any monkey can email a link to youtube, claiming it's a video for something else, but rickrolling shea stadium through voting in the 7th inning stretch song was hilarious.

I guess it's funny to me only, but someone's phone blowing up with rick astley at the office was pretty amusing.

:stupid: I have never liked that guy's music. When he was "popular" in the 80s he was my least favorite musician. I definitely do not find the humor in the Rick Roll.

I about crapped my pants when I got hammered at work with the link that repositions itself on your screen so you can't close it.

I never yanked the wire out of the speaker so damn fast.

Sing along with Rick:

"Yes, I have hit puberty,
Everyone makes fun of me,
Big bad voice in the body of Howdy Doody..."

The video is good 80's cheese.. and the song, i dont know. semi catchy to me. but i love that 80's stuff. Electric avenue, two tickets to paradise, something about you by level 42. Haha i just looked up the song and all these years i thought the lyrics were "don't have big ears" and apparently it's really, 'born of the years'. Doh!
