R.I.P. You were definitely one of my "guilty pleasures" when I was a kid listening to your comedy routines.
Outside of Redd Foxx and Richard Pryor... you were one nasty funny guy. You will be missed.

Oh no!! What a shocker. He was great in his early days, then he got angry and I got tired of him. But I believe he got funny again lately.
He will be missed.

He will be missed by young and old alike.
He was the best narrator on Thomas the Train.
RIP
i actually liked him better when he got bitter. i liked him less when he started doing 10-10-321 commercials
but overall he was hilarious. RIP, george.

It's interesting that he did the train and was this cynical angry guy. Makes me think it was semi-front and semi real. But he was great none the less.
I enjoyed him a lot. Probably top 5-10 comedians of all time for me.

heh, taking into account that Alec Baldwin also voices for the Thomas the Train series, it might be the show that has issues...

Man, I loved watching Redd Foxx when I was growing up. Richard Pryor was very funny too but I was not allowed to watch his stuff when I was growing up.

If you ever got to see/hear the REAL Redd Foxx (not Fred Sanford... but his stand up routine) you'd really be bustin' a gut.
I used to sneak and listen to my parents' old Redd Foxx "party records" back in the day. Same thing with Richard Pryor. Such funny stuff... I'm tellin' ya! ;)

I was pretty bummed when I heard about this as well. I just saw his last comedy special on HBO not too long ago. He was still funny as hell and seemed to be to be comfortable with his stage in life. But still, it's sad, as so many of us grew up to his comedy.
HBO is having a tribute to him tonight. I've seen two of his first shows already, and I'm on to a third now ;) He has great insight to our society, and even his old stuff still rings true. Check out the tribute if you have HBO.
