So last night I discovered a vertical streak running down the screen of my macbook pro. It is a single-pixel-wide straight line and stretches the whole vertical length of the screen. It doesn't move, but it intermittently appears and kinda flickers in various colors when overlapping screen content (but not where it's white). I'm assuming it's just a hardware (LCD) issue and not a software issue since it appears while using Windows XP, MS-DOS and OSX. Anybody have similar issues before with your LCD screen?

Thankfully, my applecare is still valid. Whew..... Anybody know if repairs are completely free if I have applecare? Will I get my screen replaced with a refurbished one?

Its most likely a bad connection between the laptop and the screen. I have the same issue on my old laptop, but its too old for me to care enough to fix it.

sometimes...depending on what model you have, you can open the case yourself and jiggle the connection back to normal. but that'll void your warranty. shrug....it could also mean your lappy screen is going out....you never know.

hmm. it's no longer there. the cable must have found its way back into the plug....for now.

actually, while that CAN be the problem, it can also be an issue with the LCD screen itself. Flexing of the panel is creating a short in the screen. If flexing makes it come back or go away, take it in to get fixed.
