This may be a stupid question...

I'm planning to cook some steak next weekend and was checking out my oven as I have never used it since I moved into my new place. I always thought ovens had exposed heat coils somewhere inside like a toaster oven. But when I looked inside my oven, I noticed there aren't any coils on the top. There are simply a couple large holes where I assume the heat comes from. Are all gas stoves like this? Or did some bastard steal my coils?? It's a rather old oven that looks somewhat like this:

Most of those stoves have the broiler in that bottom drawer, it uses the same flame that heats the oven, you may need to keep close eye on temp. Pull out the drawer, (some doors will fold down), and you may find trays in there as well, That will be where you place your steaks. Good luck. :)
