So I got a fix it ticket no front plate, I lost the original ticket at my bday party (i know... i know... that's my fault) Suppose to get a notice in the mail. Take the car with plate in with notice and pay the $35 fee.

Never got that notice, but I did get one today that said I failed to show up and now there's a bail amout of $700+!! wtf!

Is there a way I can fight this? I live in CA.

don,t get stop that will cost you more money . and you have a larger fine. i wait till the am have a friend take you right to the court building .and turn yourself in .but take a min of a $100 cash with you.
and if possible have your friend drive your car as proof you fix it .the judge has sign a bench warrant for you.and if your stop driving they can and may impound your car if your driving. that will cost you a tow bill and a impound fee. this will have to be payed before they release your car .and if hadn't clear up the ticket the warrant was for in the first place. they wont let you get the car out .and a daily impound fee will be charged till you get the car out . after 10 or 30 days the impound lot can file to keep your car.and you be out a the car on top of all your other problems. and if there a loan on the car you will still owe the bank. also the next 3 years your auto insurance will be above normal if your stop driving on the warrent .:(

i'd err on the side of caution, as reno advised. when i had a similar instance, i drove myself to the court and brought proof it was fixed. no fine or anything, but some hard looks about my excuse (i never received a notice, etc). but this was when i received a warrant notice in the mail, and i lived in sandy eggo. i just showed up ASAP (next day). and this was for a brake light out.

big YMMV tho.

when i went, i believe i just had to go to a desk and sign in. then i went and waited in a court room for them to call my name. it was pretty long ago, so that's what i can remember. this was in the el cajon court house, and it took about 2 hr or half a day.

For minor courts, you can usually just show up and sign in. And usually any judge, commissioner, etc. can look at it.

hi mojo... you can show up to court without an appointment? when there are warrants out for you .on traffic stuff you can as long as its ot for something like bodily injury or worst .at least here in Michigan .and its in the court that you were assign to in the first place.
you know you could also call the court on the paperwork you just got and make sure .
