Anime

So who is into Anime here? I've just started getting into myself and have enjoyed a few shows. I used to be pretty against the idea of Anime because it was such a typical "geek" thing and I didn't particularly feel like conforming to standards, but my girlfriend introduced me to some stuff and I started delving further and I've found a lot of stuff I can enjoy.

Recent series I've watched that I enjoyed:

- Elfen Lied
- Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
- Lucky Star
- Chobits
- Azumanga Diaoh
- Ghost in The Shell

I'm currently watching Eureka Seven with a friend and I like it so far, but it has a lot of filler.

Anyways, just curious.

in all seriousness though, I like the "badass" anime. Ones where you watch and you go "whoa that was cool!"

one that immediately comes to my mind is Cowboy Bebop. The writing is pretty decent, but animation and presentation really sets the atmosphere. I'm in the middle of watching GunxSword, and its.... almost formulaic. But its still fun to watch.

And finally, I have to rant, what's the deal with Neon Genesis Evangelion? Everyone hypes it so much, but it was way underwhelming. Maybe its just all of the babes in the show. :shrug:

I like Naruto and Bleach (and other continuing story type anime...)

I don't really get into the hardcore stuff that much...

Personally I don't watch OVAs, or "series" type animies, partially because I don't have the attention span, but mostly because I find the level of artistry much more satisfying at the "film" level. That's not to say I don't think OVAs are good. I do know many OVAs that have amazing artwork and feature immersive storylines.

I haven't seen a good OVA yet. The one for Elfen Lied was horrid. That being said I haven't seen many of them.
