okok...so my lappy is running vista home premium

and desktop is running XP pro

i'm currently in my room where the hub won't reach my desktop, and my desktop does not have wireless.

Here is the situation...my lappy has wireless, so i'm trying to use a rj45 cord, hook it up from my desktop to lappy, and enable the option to share the internet via my lappy's wireless.

i've done it with another lappy before, but that one was XP. this one i can't seem to do it. when i enable the option to share the internet connection, my wireless stops working. why...WHY!??!?

Because Vista is a pain in the rear?

Buy yourself a USB wireless adapter for the desktop & save yourself a lot of grief.

I would agree with Jeffbx. That means you won't have internet on your desktop unless you're laptop's around. that sounds kinda useless.
but if you're determined. Go to your network connections in control panel, and highlight both your wireless and wired adatpers, right click, and bridge. I'm pretty sure that's what you want.

I'm guessing a longer ethernet cable is not a valid solution either?
