The video card is not included in the price, it's an extra $60.

hey, who likes this? if i make all the upgrades i like, it's expensive. is it better / cheaper / faster / etc to build my own computer?

Build your own is usually more expensive than buying a Dell & doesn't include a full system warranty.

I always recommend that if cost is your main concern, buy a dell from the outlet (http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineSales/topics/global.aspx/arb/online/en/InventorySearch?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh)- they're crazy cheap.

If you want to tweak it out to your exact specs (or if you just like to play around), build your own.
