Driver Problem

A friend of mine does DJ work occasionally. He has been using a computer with an external hard drive. He is feeding his sound through a Gigaport(brand name) unit which has multiple outputs. He has an older unit and I ordered him a newer unit which arrived the other day.

He discovered that the newer unit has a "HD" designation and requires different drivers that were included with the package.

He would like to use the older unit as well as the newer unit on the same computer, in case one of the units fail.

Can he somehow have dedicated drivers for each unit, without an error coming up each time he uses one or the other?

I don't see why not, since the computer should see them as independent devices. However, I can see the possibility of a conflict if the MFR didn't change them enough for the PC to see them as different hardware.

I guess there's only one way to know for sure... plug it in & try it out!
