Watching sports while traveling internationally?

I'm in Australia for the next 3 weeks and was wondering what some of you that travel or live overseas do to watch sports events. I'm really only interested in catching the VT football games (one of which should be pretty easy, the other not so much).

Slingbox is an option but I didn't buy and set one up before I left and I have my doubts on whether my wife could set it up.

I would try watching the game at a pub but this week's game will be on at 5:30 am local time and I'm guessing I'll have a difficult time finding a place open at that time.

What options are there for watching on the internet? Any other ideas.

Surprisingly, there are a lot of places abroad that will show American sports, although college football may be a bit of a stretch...

But google whatever channel they're going to show it on - odds are decent that you'll be able to find it online somewhere.

The other thing that makes watching the games very difficult is the 13 hour time difference between here and the East coast. Forget Monday night games and Sunday night games. They come on in the middle of the work day. Saturday night games are the best. Otherwise the Saturday and Sunday early games come on around 2 in the am. I am also lucky that my slingbox is connected to a DVR too.

Yeah, I'd imagine I could find the game somewhere if it were on during the day here. However, the two games I'll be missing kick off at 3:30 EDT and 8:00 EDT. That translates to 5:30 am Sunday morning and 10 am Sunday morning here in Brisbane. It may be difficult finding anywhere open at those times.

To make matters worse, the internet speeds here at the hotel are somewhat shaky. We'll see...

Well shoot me a PM and I can create a login to use my orb account which is setup to watch TV through my tuner card on my PC. I don't know if your game is broadcast in CO for this week but I know when we play you VT v NE that that is nationally televised. Let me know. Its not super smooth but I watched the tour and might be better than nothing.

yeah, i was about to suggest orb. if you have a decent connection, and a tv card on your home computer, you can install orb, and use that.

I used to get up every weekend to watch games at 6 am when I lived in HI. It isn't dedication - it is football! :P :) In HI the bars were open and waiting for you to get there on Saturday morning at 6 am. I rarely went to the bars because if I watched the game at home it meant I could sleep in until 6 am. If I went to the bars I had to get up earlier.
