I've been trying to put all in to words. Everything that I experienced this weekend at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I have so many different emotions swirling around when I think of it, and some I just won't be able to ever put in to words.

I was honored to do the walk in celebration of these two women and their fight against Breast Cancer.

MJ was one of the morning speakers, she is a 9 year breast cancer survivor.
Debbie, link did the walk last year, but found out in January of this year she had Breast Cancer and had her most recent surgery on this past Tuesday.
On the first day, I only made the 13 miles, I was tired and sore, but couldn't pass up a photo opportunity . The wellness village is where we spent the night, we had 2 person tents, (which I got to sleep in alone!! ), food, medical, hot showers, and of course shopping!! http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q218/Cassiberry/Los%20Angeles%20Avon%20Walk%20for%20Breast%20Cancer%202008/100_1808.jpg
Day two, was a bit more of a challenge link, everyone was sore. We were tired. We had blisters, but we were determined to finish!!
During one point of the walk, I walked with a woman who couldn't bend her left knee, was getting blisters on her right foot, but was as determined as I was. I also walked a bit with 2 Breast Cancer Survivors, one lady, was loud obnoxious and just amazing, I could have walked with her all day!! The other was a young lady, who was 34 years old. She was diagnosed when she was 33. A 34 year old breast cancer survivor. She is 8 years older than me and a breast cancer survivor, something like THAT makes it more real. I'm not sure why, but it does. We had street safety guys, they were "Scooters for Hooters" link and some of the nicest, sweetest, most encouraging guys I have met.
The community support in Long Beach was AMAZING!!
When I crossed the finish line I was in tears because my foot hurt so bad, I have a horrible blister and lifted toe nail, but I was finishing. Every 3 minutes a Breast Cancer Diagnosis is given. This past weekend while over 2,000 women were doing their part in helping the fight, hundreds of women got a diagnosis that changed their lives forever.
Oh, and of course, this weekend couldn't have gone on without drama. Saturday after eating lunch, I'm talking to my teammate and we are waiting in line to get blisters taken care of and I turn to her and tell her " Ginny I don't feel good" …and lost color in my face so I had to go and lay down on the cot, get my blood pressure taken and get warmed up before I could even get up again. I was drinking only water and got lectured that I need water and Gatorade. So I made sure I had plenty of it the rest of Saturday and then Sunday. I also got threatened with an IV if I ended up back in the medical tent with the same problem.
But, after everything, regardless of my foot pain, back pain and every other pain I could think of, I ended up registering for next year link link
