Tomatoes! (They are technically a fruit)
Seriously, being a diabetic I don't eat much fruit due to the carb content. I guess I would have to say grapes, although I'm sure if I thought about it long enough I could come up with something more exotic.

:stupid:
A couple of years ago a guy at work brought in a bunch of peaches from the trees in his back yard. They weren't especially large, but their flavor was incredible. It made me want to plant peach trees in my back yard.

Depends on what is fresh and in season. If I was choosing and all fruit was fresh and in season - I would say apples, in particular Fuji or Braeburn (sp?) apples. I also love pineapples (I miss HI), bananas, pears, peaches, figs, mangoes (they were awesome in HI), and a ton of other fruits.
I have to say, the local Japanese fruit is awesome! They take such painstaking care to grow their apples.

Blueberries and peaches. We used to have couple of peach trees when I was growing up. They were considered to be mine (I took care of them and had the first shot at the fruit). Nothing like a tree ripened peach! The ones you get in the stores are picked green and ripen on the way so that they do not spoil or get damaged during shipping.
If they were more common and less expensive, I could like more Dragon Fruit. A cactus fruit kind of like a kiwi but less acidic. They look cool too. They grow well in San Diego and I have seen them growing at the zoo. I was tempted to pick a ripe one I saw there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitaya Fresh figs once in a while too. You can find them at the local farmer's markets sometimes.

fresh pineapple might be the best thing ever.
after that, almost anything in season:
apples, cherries, peaches, berries of all kinds
mmmm... mango.
I can't imagine pineapple or mango picked fresh, I've only ever had it from a supermarket. Must be absolutely mindblowing.

Dude, if you like the "fresh" pineapple in the lower 48, go to HI or some place tropical that grows their own. When they let it ripen before picking it and then pick it and get it to the stores within a day - yum yum! I will be spoiled for life! The taste is truly amazing. Mango is like that too! Man, I miss HI!
