Costco seems to have the cheapest deal I could muster on this. Looked all the normal stores, including walk-ins in my area. My box store didn't have it yet, but they have it online, and until 1-Oct, have free shipping.
Most stores only have the 2008 versions still.

Currently (ends today) Buy.com has it for $24.99 after competitive upgrade rebate. No free shipping, but no sales tax in most states. The Costco version may also be eligible for a competitive upgrade rebate. Check the box.

However, if one can afford to wait a while, you can usually get it (of just about any other brand of internet security suite) for free-after-rebate (FAR). These FAR deals happen a number of times during the year and occur fairly often at office supply stores. The FAR deals are especially prevalent when bundled with income tax preparation software (TurboTax, TaxCut) which will be released before year’s end.

Lately, Symantec have been offering free upgrades to their latest versions. Hopefully, this trend will continue.

$15/computer is cheap protection. But it’s likely to get even cheaper.

You're better off buying this for free after rebate, throwing it in the trash, and then downloading a free scanner that won't bog down your computer, such as Avast or AVG.

I've personally given up on Norton AV products. Right now, I'm hangin' with NOD32 AV.

I've been using the AVG scanner for several years on 12 computers. Have also had issues with it where it's taking up a ton of system resources and taking forever to open folders on the computer. I uninstalled it and everything cleared up. Reinstall AVG, and boom same issue.

From what I've seen my AVG was taking up minimum 68MB ram and max usage was over 234MB.
From what I've seen with the newer Norton 2009, I'm using around 8MB normally and max about 69MB.

The reason I started using AVG was because the amount of RAM it took when they moved from the 2003 version to 2004.

Thanks for the info. When AVG is running on my old computer, it definitely slows things down. But in one year, I haven't had problems with viruses. Maybe I should just add a little memory.
