View Full Version : Those of you who live in MD, DC, VA
Hi all,
I've got a break coming up in school and will have about 10 days off. I don't have the cash to fly somewhere, but i did want to do some road trips in the Maryland, DC, Virginia area to take photos.
I'm going to be spending a day up on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah state park since i hear it's pretty nice up there.
Does anybody recommend other spots of interest? I live in Northern Virginia in Arlington and am willing to drive a couple hours if i can get some good shots.
TIA.

Sorry, I cannot help now. I have been away from the area for almost 2 years and not too much comes to mind. You could go to Dolly Sods: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_Sods_Wilderness
How do you like Arlington? I am thinking about moving down to the NOVA area from the Laurel, MD area but I have not decided where.

harper's ferry in WV is pretty nice, and it's about the same distance to a lot of stuff.
you could also probably make a trip up to gettysburg, and not be that much of a diff either, time wise.
there's the rennassaince festival still going on in MD, and that could make for some interesting/fun photos.
and yes, shenandoah is nice. weather's always tricky though.

I love Arlington. I am going to school at GTown and it's nice to be able to leave the District to go "home" and not feel like i'm trapped by school.
I live in Crystal City right by the Reagan National airport. Along this 2 mile stretch of road, i have everything i could possibly need: groceries, best buy, malls, food, target, hotels, car rentals, dry cleaning, and most importantly...THE METRO.

The Skyline Caverns is in Front Royal and is fairly impressive.
Like attgig said, Harper's Ferry is nice.

Slip down to my hometown of Charlottesville and take in Monticello, Ash Lawn, Michie Tavern, The UVa grounds, etc...
