Is there a way where i can disable winRAR from reading zips? The reason for this is that if u installed windows plus, theres a nifty app that allows u to open zips as if they're just folders in windows explorer

open winrar, click on options on the menu and select settings. Then select the Integration tab in the Setings window, unselect .zip and press ok. :D

I use zips for most things, but if I need to send something big over the internet, I am gonna rar it so I can split up all the files. I think we all know how much it sucks for a transfer to die at 99 percent, and then need to restart the thing.

From time to time, when I am resuming files, something weird will happen, and the file will be unusable. Not very often, but maybe once out of a hundred. (probably less than that). It has happened with aim a few times, and cuteftp a few times (although with ftp it might have been server side).

Same here. That's why I always dl huge files from school instead of via the sucky free dial-up isp.

ACE or RAR, not zip

I always prefer RAR over ACE though both of 'em are better than the old ZIP.
