Anyone here have experience with VMWare desktop or VMWare player?
Im curious how the current cheap netbooks (eeePC 900 or 1000) would perform with an XP Host running an XP VM. Specifically the XP VM would have some classic games already setup on it like Starcraft, Age of empires, or Myth 2.

I have experience with VMWare, but not with those cheap netbooks. I would guess that if it would even run, it would run like absolute crap.

Probably would be better off just running those games natively on the netbook -- they don't have the resources to be running VMs off them.

It probably depends on the specs of the notebook, but if you were playing any intensive games you'd probably run into resource constraints. I'm thinking video drivers to start would be a big one.
We use it A LOT at work, but like others said, we're running it on 16 processor servers and not notebooks.

Guess, I will just have to wait and try. I dont imagine it'll be all that bad, since the game's requirements are so low (I think the biggest requirement is 300Mhz)

Oh and the reason for not running it natively is so that I can run it on my desktop, as well as pass the image around to my friends (possibly doing a lan party in January)
