Does anyone here have any useful links regarding diesel and gas comparison regarding fuel consumption? Any information would be great. I'm debating about a VW TDI. My dad have a Dodge Cummins but obviously its a different beast compare to to the car.

Thanks,
nhb

Here's the 2009 EPA MPG numbers:

30/41 TDI 6-speed
29/40 TDI DSG(Automatic?)
21/29 Non Diesel

Thanks for bring back the thread totally forgot about it.

After reading edmunds and kbb review I still need more options.

Does anyone here own one or driven it for an extended period?

I dunno about the TDIs, but I have a gas Jetta ('08) and I absolutely love it.

we almost bought one, but ended up w/ the SI instead. My wife really liked the 6spd manual with all that beefy torque.

fuel mileage is excellent and i think you still come out ahead with the diesel even though the unit cost is more.

I just couldn't get over the VW reliability issues... but who knows maybe they've been resolved like american cars and i just don't know it. Every VW i've driven has been a blast to drive, drivers cars for sure.
