pic handling question on new dell: picasa or windows photo gallery?

I like Picasa, but I use Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) and set it as the default application for all image files.

I use Picasa for cataloging and backup, and to acquire images from the digicam, but all functions are done manually.
