This link works for me.
I downloaded the 32-bit torrent version (built 7000) last week but I didn't have a key.
I'm downloading both 32-bit & 64-bit versions.

Sure you don't mean what "Win98SE is to Win98?" - the way you word it, Windows 7 is far worse than Vista.
Granted, I shouldn't question, considering I had a huge post lined up about my opinions of Windows 7 so far -- but then I crashed it! Overall though, I'm liking what I see.

I just got a Vista computer. Think they might give me a free upgrade when it is ready? Then I would have an Intel i7 computer with Windows 7- just like the old Athlon XP with Windows XP i recently retired. Doubt that. I saved my retail copy of XP from that computer- not sure what I will do with it though.

They must have moved it - I get "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found."

Oops, MS may have screwed up -
If you change

to http (rather than https) it goes through.

Can it be saved on a flash drive and then transferred to another computer which has the minimum requirements?

yes. you download it as an .iso. so you can burn it to a dvd as well.

Thanks, attgig. Can nero be used for an iso? If not, then what is a good program?

You can use Nero, but you'd burn from an image rather than creating a Data DVD and tossing the ISO on it.
OK, time for the stuff you probably didn't know (this is just from playing around)
1) WIN+P command: Displays a menu with the following: (this might work with a dual-monitor setup as well, though I'm not sure)
- Show desktop on current screen only
- Duplicate desktop on projector
- Extend desktop on projector
- Show desktop on projector only
2) Ever get the question "How do I change the wallpaper" from computer newbies? Have them type "wallpaper" in the Start menu search bar, and it will tell them. "Mouse" will show options for changing mouse pointers, wheel settings, etc.
I'm sure I'll find other goodies.

What does it do if you type "ubuntu"? heh heh

Just read somewhere that you only get a free upgrade from vista if you bought your computer (pre bundled with vista) after july 1st. And that your version of Vista must be higher than basic.

I'm really liking 7 so far. Fixed alot of the annoying things in vista, is faster. Some nice mac like touches as well.

I downloaded the iso, created a new Vista console on my MS Virtual PC, mounted the iso on the virtual CD drive, reset the virtual machine, and presto... a Windows 7 installation! :)

I was impressed at how easily & quickly it installed - a few clicks & bam! there it was.
I also installed it on a really new machine (Lenovo Thinkpad W500), and it recognized almost all of the hardware right out of the gate.

Just a heads-up that the majority of disc image mounting software (like Daemon Tools) currently do not work on Windows 7, and apparently iTunes doesn't either.

I just built a new desktop, and have been using W7_64 on it for the last two days. I'm actually liking it quite a bit so far. I've been using XP for the last 8 years and have never touched vista, so W7 has a lot of newness for me.
Some have complained, but I like the new task bar. It works much better in vertical orientation on a widescreen monitor. The only compatibility problem I've hit so far was skype, but turns out there's a beta version that works on W7. I haven't tried iTunes yet.
It feels very snappy and responsive to me, but that is no doubt partially due to the all new hardware.

Thanks Wung. I got an OEM disc of Basic from NewEggg about a month ago for my new computer I built myself.
